Band of gypsies robs Swartz in Wernersville, pursued
In Woernersville on June 7 a traveling band of gypsies stopped for fortune telling. A woman stole ten dollars from Frank Swartz. police pursued the suspects who were intercepted near Reading. The woman surrendered the money and the case proceeded to Sinking Spring. A child, Charles Henry Bollinger, died at home aged nine years, seven months, and one day with funeral at Hains Reformed church. Buck hotel proprietor Harry Shartle modernizes and plans future remodeling.

State Haymakers convention set for York

In Hershey on June 7 1897 Daniel Garman, a carpenter, fell from a second story to the cellar at J. R. Harry's house, breaking glasses and suffering cuts but remaining able to move about. Mrs. Jacob Beam is listed as sick. Susan Worth and daughter left for Lancaster for a week or ten days. Benjamin Goss recovers with cane after a fall. Chocolate factory roofs are being painted. Samuel Toolhay moved from Trinidad Avenue to a house on Cocos Avenue. Mrs. Pearson of Illinois visited the area on Wednesday.
