The exhibit shows about 250 kinds of Farm and Vegetable Seeds and a similar number of Flower Seeds. Highlights include Burpe's Golden Beauty Pedrick's Perfected Beauty and Chester County Mammoth Field Corn in stock with favorable terms for direct purchase. Two cents extra seed discount on every two dollars bought.
Augustus Binka of 2408 Cuilford street filed against his son John Oscar Binka an order for larceny of five dollars. A warrant was issued to County Detective Sattazaln but the father may drop the case. The elder Binka alleged the son took the family Bible and obtained two dollars in notes with the rest in ether.
Mrs J G Waimer Mrs HR L Jensus and Mrs QO B Siegrist this morning drove to Bismarck where they spent the day with James Humel who has reached the fine old age of 83 years.
The Philadelphia and Reading Railway issues its annual Summer Tours book for 1902. It details excursions to seashore and mountains and is available through Philadelphia and Reading agents on request.
George Rhwdise and several other mill men departed this morning for Wilmington Delaware where they have secured employment.
Philadelphia Inquirer reports from Mt. Holly that Crommell and Williams planned a mass killing of a Waverly family near Newark. Crommell’s confession to Prosecutor Samuel A. Atkinson describes travels from Burlington to Newark and credits a scheme to rob and murder six, with arrests en route and further plans abandoned after detention in Cardwell.
The post office approves a list of secure weatherproof rural free delivery boxes from various manufacturers including the Bond steel port company Adrian Michigan and the Century rural mail box company Detroit Michigan. Agents will visit routes to display boxes and sell them at reasonable prices as the July 1, 1902 service start approaches. Postmaster Houck will accompany carriers to ensure first class order and collect box ownership from families awaiting mail.
The Salem Lutheran mite society met Wednesday evening at the residence of Mrs. Evans on Dent Street. Mrs. Evans, a former Pittsburg resident now living in Lebanon, has become an active church auxiliary worker. A large attendance filled the gathering praised as one of the most interesting in years. President Mrs. Henry J. Cebbard led with business discussed. Mrs. P. B. Fernsler read selections and Miss Mary Hoffman gave a fine recitation. The evening ended with social time and a dessert of ice cream and cake.
The Schuylkill seminary effort gains momentum in a ten day canvass led by Mr. Kline and Prof. Teel of Reading. Teel returns to Frederic to oversee school interests and renew the drive in about a week. An option for three more acres near the Selwyn Lip property was secured for 85 from Mrs. John Tuek. A special East Pennsylvania conference meeting with about 100 ministers, called by Bishop Breyfogel, will convene in Reading on July 3 to consider locating a seminary there. The conference will inspect the Selwyn Lip body.
General J P S Gobin served as principal speaker on visiting day at Loysville Pennsylvania orphans home. The Fritz memorial girls dormitory was presented by Mr Fritz of Somerset. Lutherans from central Pennsylvania attended. a special G28 train carried 48 passengers including Patheran and Seventh Lutheran church members and friends from Womelsdorf and Annville.
Mark Ovitch a Hungarian laborer was badly burned on Wednesday when he fell into an ore roaster at Bird Coleman furnaces Cornwall He was brought to the hospital with his body covered in burns.
George J Koser a Renovo businessman was found dead in a Cross Forks hotel likely from heart disease. He worked many years at Wm H Goodyear’s store and was connected through marriage to Elizabeth Piratersy. Burial arrangements pending. Harry Loser 71% Walnut street died of stomach trouble after long illness. a veteran of the Trebefitan serving in Co 1 Trad Renosxivania Regiment and Co 1 PA. survived by wife and two sons Morris and Arthur. Michael Bissic died at 24 from safeyt ple stomach at Counts Hospital. survived by a brother employed at Cornwall. Infant child daughter of Mr and Mrs John Boyer died aged ten months in West Lebanon. Annie Walter 1 2 year old daughter of Mr and Mrs James Walter died of diphtheria in Annville. Prof G B Gerberich.
Prof Grant B Gerberich principal of Annyville high school has been elected principal of Johnsonburg Elk County high school. He succeeds Argf J Aleman who formerly taught in the city schools and is now superintendent of the DuBois Pa schools.
Mrs Zimmerman wife of Join G Zimmerman chief of police has been very ill for weeks but shows improvement. Friends will be glad to hear of her better condition as she receives treatment at the Good Samaritan hospital.
Three year old Harry Engiehart, son of William Engiehart, sustained a painful thumb injury today when it was caught in the rollers of a wash wringer in this city.
The second trial of Henry S Heilman and Hessler Boyer ends as the jury returns true bills on multiple indictments. Proceedings stretched over two and a half days with extended defense and prosecution arguments, grand jury discharge, and acknowledgments from local officials including the mayor and chief of police.
Postmaster A R Houck and Carrier Boughter reviewed the rural route, to serve 1300 people across 284 homes. Route 1 details a 23 mile loop with 14 square miles area, 288 horses, and homes along Gossert’s, Preeman’s, Cornwall road, Flintville, and Beckles corners among others. Boxes to be erected per department rules with agents to follow for installation.

Thomas Crommell alias George Clarence Washington, the black man convicted of Jacob Smith’s murder, is in fine form and confined as death watch keeps strict vigil. He eats well and remains cheerful, receiving a letter with a dollar bill as a reward for saving a life previously. Sheriff Coppenhaver plans the gallows and related preparations for the final act in the drama.
Deputy Secretary Martin reports a prosperous year for Pennsylvania farmers with high prices for farm products and rising land values. The Pennsylvania Department plans a bulletin on Hessian fly habits and control, including a state map of fly appearance dates to aid farmers.
Non-union workers who had remained left the Sternbergh rolling mill of the American Iron and Steel Manufacturing Company of Reading. The mill is shut, with many workers quitting or heading home, while others camp along the river or plan to depart. Plant output is halted as union-strike actions persist and other departments run only sporadically.
A special service at Tulpehocken Reformed Church near Myerstown Pa marks the 175th anniversary of Caspar Wistar gifting 100 acres for burial and a yearly red rose tribute. Edith T Welker will present 150 roses to Delwyn Wistar as part of the commemoration with a program including addresses by Rev James L Good and others, plus a sixty-voice chorus and solos.

The Warrior Eagle tribe and other groups arrange for a Lebanon council trip with caps and canes funded by The Hab. A large delegation will attend the great council on June 12. E-shah-ke-nee and Canassatego lodges finalize travel, uniforms, and a parade band. Miss Mary Hoch has left Philadelphia for a private nursing position near Atlantic City.
In the northern section, a horse kicked during a work event struck Mr Spahn on the left leg after the animal, tied briefly, bolted. Spahn subdued the wagon and was taken home. Dr Giprich found a fracture above the ankle. He is resting quietly.
A heavy rain and hail storm moved across the eastern end of the county Tuesday afternoon. Hail fell in large quantities near Schaefferstown while Avon and Myerstown received a heavy welcome rain.
Harry Bachrach of Bachrach and Feld arrived Tuesday evening with his brother Layser and spent the night at the Eagle hotel. He is finding great success in his novelty knitting salts business and friends here will be glad to hear of his progress.
Marty Wunderlich buys the Yellow Front cigar store and barber shop at 8 South Eighth Street from Howard Heilman and already takes possession. The note praises Wunderlich as capable and deserving, predicting he will build a fine and prosperous trade.
The Swatara parade committee has received 566 badges from Keystote Ribbon Badge Company in Reading for a display in Frantz Bros window. The badge event is the official badge of the great council to be held here from June 9 to 13.
P G Mark esq appointed as commissioner to take testimony in proceedings brought by Charles R Zimmerman against Mina Zimmerman Elizabeth Scrickler and William Stripper for divorce. J M Funck esq made the motion.
Henry M. Dechert J B Kremer and Lavery Bradley named as re elected board of trustees of the state asylum for the chronic insane at South Mountain for a three year term. Isaac Zebring of Annville discharged from county jail this morning on bail for a Friday hearing on charges he ill treated his daughter.
Constable Jos M. Quad from Newmanstown and a strong force of helpers battled a blaze near the Woodsear reservoir. The unit was threatened but extinguished the fire without major damage.
William G. Minchen the Lloyds representative of London is not Eli Attwoods guest as claimed. He is registered at the O Page hotel while in Lebanon to inspect the large chain works in courses of manufacture.
John Walter of the Democratic county committee met Tuesday in Harrisburg with State Chairman Wai Creasy and other prominent Democrats to plan the upcoming state convention and campaign.
Harry J. Schools named commissioner in Elizabeth C. Hower v Harry S. Hower divorce proceedings. J G Adams filed the motion.
Pat Robins arrives in the city to lead the Independent baseball club. The team will play Lancaster on Saturday afternoon at the Holland house venue after a change from Roxborough.
Red Men local committee sets next week council at Eagle hotel building 12 South Ninth street with a bureau of information for visitors. Prize awards include ex Mayor Gerhart and officers for largest costumed man and finest costumes. A ceremonial trolley ride for chiefs wives is planned with Pocahontes degree members to accompany. Parade formations and routes listed with multiple tribe and band contingents, marching at 2:15 PM, ending at North Market square with the Weimer march.
The Quittapahilla base ball club extended its winning streak to seven with a decisive Tuesday afternoon victory over the AC Gram mat? team. Batteries were Gingrich and Paine, with Lonseneker and Moeckel contributing in the field.
