Woman killed by a rocket at community display
Mise Kathe H. Machemer, aged 21, was struck by a large rocket at a fireworks demonstration in Kotztown on July 6. The rocket lodged in her chest, penetrating two inches and hitting the heart. She died within minutes as onlookers watched. The program was abandoned after her death.

Prof Morgan B Klopp of Womelsdorf aged 83 years 6 months and 21 days died after a week of illness. He taught music 40 years was organist and choir leader for multiple congregations and served as school director for five terms. Christman 71 Dies at Reading Hospital After Operation
Augustus G Christman aged 71 died at Reading hospital following an operation for bladder trouble. He lived at 347 Penn street Reading and was a native of Fleetwood. He worked in a Schaefferstown grocery, then Fox Ferry lumber, and later coal and lumber at Sheridan Lebanon county. He patented a washing machine in 1889 called the Royal and sold it from Reading. Survived by wife Ellen and two sons H Herbert Christman Reading and R Linton Christman Pittsburgh, plus three grandchildren and three brothers James Rockville Charles California and Daniel Grass Keys. He was a Lutheran.
