Royer of Jackson township was named Monday afternoon mercantile appraiser for the county by Samuel A. Royer president of the board of county commissioners. He will begin duties next month and will distribute a state prepared blank to every retailer. He will oath vendors on business in 1907 and collect mercantile tax. Retailers pay $2 and one mill on gross volume. wholesalers pay one half mill on business volume. He must certify to the county treasurer by May 1 the list of vendors and addresses with tax due.
