John Ko Wills sues Fannie Wills for divorce alleging cruel treatment and neglect. He claims she left Kokomo after marriage on Sept and refused to live with him on his Clinton township farm, citing his advanced age and feeble health. He describes humiliation and emotional distress but notes limited funds for support.
Wrefull inspection orders go to deputies to survey school buildings across Indiana. Chief W. Blakely warns of fire hazards as furnaces heat classrooms. He cites recent Kentucky pot house fire and urges rapid action to prevent repeats as winter approaches.
Jams McIntosh aged about 45 died Sunday evening at his Sheridan home after a sudden apoplexy. He had dined with his family and seemed in good health. The Sheridan residents for four years, Mr. McIntosh and family were highly respected. Funeral held at his late residence this morning at 9 o'clock with Rev. King of the Christian church delivering the discourse.
G K Jeffries, superintendent of the T H and EP Traction Co, received from a Bentonville woman a note claiming a fare was due. She said a conductor once failed to collect it, and she later repented after a Holiness meeting in Cleveland.
The Lady Maccabees will mark sixteen years since organization with a 2:30 PM gathering at the GAR hall. A special program has been arranged for invited friends as part of the anniversary observance.
Intersta te Commerce Commission will vigorously pursue hours of labor rule infractions. Detectives may be employed to secure evidence of violations, signaling firm action to enforce compliance across railroads.
The First Christian church has issued a unanimous call to Rev. C M Hagans of Mt. Sterling Ohio after ten years of service there. Hagans will visit Lebanon next week for field review and to confer with tent church members. He is about forty, married, and a fine preacher with strong recommendations. The Lebanon congregation seeks to secure his services despite Mt. Sterling church’s efforts to retain him.
Twelve counties voted under the new county focal option law and all were carried by the drys. The drys won in two counties on Monday as well. Marion county lost fifty saloons and Morrow eight, bringing total closures to 347 saloons out of business.
A local contest offered free articles to the first entrant giving two words from a board puzzle. Rose Moore, daughter of H L Moore of North Martinsreet, correctly formed Save Money from letters. She registered with a coupon number, choosing a brass bedstead as her prize.
The Frankfort Times reports the first Neidlinger reunion held at the Beisel home northwest of the city on Sunday September 27. Officers elected include Frank Neidlinger of Indianapolis as president and Marison Neidlinger of New Augusta as vice president. Lewis Neidlinger of Zionsville as secretary. Lyda Seigfried of Monon as assistant secretary. J M Neidlinger of Whitestown as treasurer. The second reunion is planned for Columbia Park Lafayette on the second Sunday in September next year. A large lawn dinner followed, with many Neidlinger relatives and friends from Lafayette Lebanon Monticello Whitestown Indianapolis New Augusta Monon Zionsville Beard and other nearby towns in attendance.
In Indianapolis on September 30 Governor Hanky called for an investigation into charges by Representative Kinsley that Hanly offered a position to secure his vote on a constitutional option. The governor said the charges were false and impeachable if true, prompting a House committee to be appointed to probe the matter.
Tuesday after school the high school assembled to plan athletics for the coming year. A girls athletic association was organized with Veg Jackson as president, Mary Henderson as vice president, Leon Siowmans as secretary, and Mrs Dashleman as general business head.
The Grand Lodge Knights of Pythias will convene Tuesday and Wednesday in Indianapolis at the Indiana Pythian building. Officers report healthy membership growth, many lodges owning buildings, and a strong financial position. The Pythian Sisters show 279 temples, with Indianapolis lodges hosting visiting knights each evening.
Frank Lewis of Sheridan was arrested on the streets of Noblesville Monday night about nine o clock and jailed on intoxication charges. He had been arrested previously for intoxication and released on a promise to pay a fine, but the payment did not arrive.
An Indianapolis & Cincinnati traction car rammed through eight blocks of Connersville Indiana striking a freight car at Lincoln avenue. Mrs John Petty and Mrs Wilks with infant were aboard and escaped with injuries though Mrs Petty stayed unconscious for half an hour. The motorman and conductor left the car during the ride before it collided with the freight car and halted on a grade after a final impact.
South Bend Indiana Sept 30 After weeks of fruitless searches by police many cities and friends Mere H Ormsby of Benton Harbor Michigan has been found She says she forgot her name and started for South Bend but never reached there A postal letter from Harte Mr Ormsby from Hammond Indiana clarified her whereabouts He promptly found his wife in Hammond and brought her back to Benton Harbor The case was highly puzzling to the local police and hope of finding the missing woman had nearly faded The last sighting was Sept 10 when Mr Ormsby bought a round trip ticket for his wife in Benton Harbor and she set for Southern Michigan
