Lebanon Telephone Company officials told 35 business leaders at the Ulen Country Club that city growth requires about $100000 in expenditures for a new exchange bigger switchboard and updated equipment. Rates, from 60 cents to $2.50, have not kept pace with rising costs since 1913, 1894 base rates cited. company urges a fair return to improve service while maintaining progress.

The golden wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs David Spaulding was observed at their country home near Mechanicsburg. One hundred seventy five guests attended, including four couples already past fifty years together and seven who attended the original wedding. A noon dinner, a large wedding cake, and a short program followed, with prayers and well wishes from Rev Wiggins and Rev Zenor. The Spauldings, lifelong residents of Jackson township, Clinton county, had three children and were surrounded by relatives and friends recalling five decades of married life.

In New York Sophie Poleskie was dragged into a furnace by George Symuk after a quarrel amid allegations of poisoning threats. Symuk, 44, a Roumanian fireman, allegedly placed her in a furnace. police pursued and captured him after a hand to hand struggle.

Mrs C M Zion dies in New York aged 65
Mrs. Charles M. Zion aged 65 died Monday night at Clifton Springs Sanatorium near New York City after four years of rheumatism. She lived in Lebanon most of her life, later moving to New York City with her husband and daughter Mrs. Maury Macbeth. Surviving are Charles M. Zion a daughter Mary Macbeth two sisters and one brother. The body was sent to Los Angeles for burial.
