Civil War reunion brings 3 regiments together in Lebanon
Survivors of the Thirty Civil War regiments Eighty sixth Fortieth and Tenth met in Lebanon for their annual reunion with forty one total members present including visitors from other regiments. Fortieth member W R Hopper of Gordo Alabama attended and Solomon Penrod of Lafayette celebrated his eighty eighth birthday during the event. Four silk battle flags from battles Stone River and Mission Ridge were displayed. Tenth regiment led with twenty members followed by Fortieth fourteen and Eighty sixth seven. Officers for next year to be elected at this afternoon’s business meeting. Dinner by the Woman's Relief Corps, program in G A R hall, Judge W H Parr to speak, old soldier to respond, musical finale.

Corn Show Dates Set for October in Lebanon
At a Chamber of Commerce meeting directors and citizens fixed October 21 to 24 for Lebanon’s fall corn show. Phil Adler led the planning to revive the long dormant event with cash prizes and major merchandise, aiming to draw many county entries. Committees will be named soon to fund and organize exhibits including poultry dairy and club entries.

Group 4 of the Ruth Bible class of the First Baptist church met with Mrs. L. D. Shannon Friday afternoon. The gathering opened with a hymn and the Lord's Prayer. Mrs. Warren Smith read the scripture. Miss Lillian Walters presented a short program including The Ministers Vacation and gave a response. Miss Mildred Wirts read twice. Light refreshments were served by the hostess. Indianapolis Sept. 19. The public service commission hearing to set a fair value on Indiana Bell Telephone Company property and fix a new rate schedule has been postponed to October 5. Roy Edgar Reese Succumbs After Illness
Roy Edgar Reese, 44, died Friday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Patterson in Boone county. He had been in poor health for over two years and worked in a fruit and vegetable commission business with Patterson. Survived by two brothers, Harry W. and Elisha Reese. Funeral Sunday at 2 p.m. at Old Union church southwest of Lebanon with Rev. D. C. Coy officiating. Burial in Old Union cemetery.

Lebanon golfers will play their last match of the season tomorrow afternoon at the Alen Country Club course against Anderson. Anderson plans to send twenty five players, with play starting at 1 00 p m. Next Sunday the country club championship begins with qualifying rounds for the sixteen lowest medal scores to reach match play, with finals for thirty six holes and other matches for eighteen holes.

He investigated the hazing of John Homis a sophomore who was dumped from a car near Terre Haute and made to walk back to Greencastle. Black rum runners captured after chase into Indianapolis
Three Black individuals were held for transporting liquor between Chicago and Indianapolis. State motor policeman E. J. Jarrett pursued the ram car for fifteen miles from Royalton into the city, reaching speeds up to sixty five miles an hour before overtaking it at the city edge. One hundred thirty gallons of alcohol were seized from the auto. the group was armed with public safety items but did not fire on Jarrett.

Indianapolis report: Richard Deupree a seven year old boy was killed when a ditch he played in collapsed. His playmate Paul Gage aged nine ran for help but rescuers found Deupree dead as the crumbling walls closed in.

Truck farmer Lon Shorty in critical condition after Lebanon crash
Lon Shorty of Brooklyn Indiana near Bethan Park remains unconscious in Williams hospital after a late yester evening collision southeast of Lebanon. He suffered a skull concussion left shoulder blade broken and collar bone damaged with a punctured lung and facial wound. The Buick sedan driven by Mr Butner of Indianapolis carried his wife. Shorty’s truck demolished and the Buick largely undamaged. Local motorists at Lafayette rushed him to hospital where his condition remains doubtful.
