Regiment to Meet in Lebanon in 1909

The Lafayette Courier reports the Walder Brigade reunion with 100 members of the 72d Indiana infantry signing in at U. S. hall. Col. C. Thomson presided as Comrade S. J. Gillam was reappointed secretary. A monument fund for Col. Miller at Lebanon was urged and a three person committee was named to raise subscriptions. The regiment plans a Lebanon reunion next September and sought General Wilder’s influence for the monument project.

The While-Aways camping club met at Misa Minnie Richey's home on Thursday night for a Garland Delis reunion. In Crawfordsville Indiana Luther Bowler and his sister Phoebe Booher Ford argue over a 169 acre will that split farms between their uncle John Booher as east and west halves. A clerical mislabeling left Bowler on the west eighty and Ford on the east eighty for 23 years. Now they seek resolution through legal and possible farm exchange, with Booher claiming Ford’s farm is more valuable and Ford resisting a cash payment.

Escaped Death In Four Men At Lafayette Well

Four drillers narrowly avoided death near Lafayette Indiana when gas trapped them as they sank a well. Joseph Maher slipped into the opening to retrieve tongs and was overcome. John Held twice risked his life to save others, followed by his brother George. John Cooper and Fravk Beyers also faced danger rescuing the group, with Maher finally pulled to safety by a rope.
