A state veterinarian supervised tuberculin testing with a $1500 inspector salary and expenses. Once 75 percent of cattle are tested, remaining 25 percent must comply or face quarantine. Auto crash in Indianapolis leaves Mrs Hightshue dead
Mrs Ella Hightshue aged 60 died in a city hospital after a collision between a car and a truck at Porty-ninth street and Central avenue. The truck driver Ralph Bernhardt 18 faced assault and battery and involuntary manslaughter charges. Hightshue formerly of Jamestown had been living near Indianapolis for 26 years and leaves a husband three stepchildren and several siblings. Treasury to urge repeal of publicity clause in revenue act
Washington reports that the treasury department will recommend repeal of the publicity clause in the present revenue act. The House Ways and Means Committee meets October 15 to review an administration tax reform outline. The plan calls for eliminating tax exempt securities, reducing surtaxes, and lowering or removing inheritance and estate taxes. Secretary Mellon has returned to Washington to start work on the treasury tax plan.
