Dean Smith 27 a U S Department of Justice investigator who failed to finish the Hampton Stroup elopement probe was found dead in his Hotel Coulter room in Frankfort Indiana. A self inflicted bullet wound ended his effort to pursue the case and a Bible lay open beside his bed with a note saying he could not do his work satisfactorily and forgave himself.

Frankfort Boys Sentenced For Burglary
Frankfort residents Tracy Kinsler and Walter Morrison received two to fourteen year sentences in the state reformatory for second degree burglary in Boone circuit court. Both pleaded guilty to breaking into the Elmer Morrison garage at Thorn Town two weeks prior. Morrison’s previously suspended sentence was revoked after authorities found leniency not within power in burglary cases. Kinsler was jailed shortly after the crime. Morrison remains in custody.
