Bebanon women reacted with urgency for another session next year as The Reporter’s Cooking School concluded its week with a record attendance. Merchants praised the program while Mrs Forbes outlined affordable wall coverings and decor from Art Wallpaper. The final session became a party with talks on parties, menus, and budgeting, ending with a note on flowers from Paul Tauer’s Green Houses and plans to repeat the project.

One Dies and Twenty People Hurt in Crossing Crash
Windsor Ont May 15 A switch engine struck a motor bus at an unguarded crossing. One woman, Mrs H C Potter 42 of Windsor died later at hospital. Her daughter May Potter was reported seriously injured. Nineteen women and two men were injured in the crash while returning from a lodge initiation. The bus driver is held pending investigation.

Havana May 15 Representa tive Joseph R. Pep Cano leader of the liberal party was assassinated shortly before midnight by one of three men as he left the Jay Alay Game building. His attackers escaped. Two years earlier Cano killed Congressman Manuel Alonzo after a political quarrel. He claimed Congressional immunity and went to Europe. After an amnesty bill was signed he returned and was re elected.

D S Whitaker long trusted Lebanon jeweler sells half his business to partner Louis S Sterling. Whitaker, who began in Zionsville in 1874, moved to Lebanon in 1879 and has operated at the present site for forty-one of his forty-six Lebanon years. Bus Burns On Jackson Highway Between Lafayette And Indianapolis
A Red White and Blue bus traveling empty between Lafayette and Indianapolis burned three quarters of a mile west of Mattix's Corner near Mr Yount's residence. The driver reported engine backfiring before flames erupted and the bus became a total loss. The driver was taken to Frankfort for the report. insurance status and bus price are uncertain though similar buses cost about 12004.

Two Get 25 Years in Prison for Murder
Bern hardt Mylin and Edward J. Smith of Milwaukee were found guilty of killing Russell Dickey express messenger during a train robbery attempt near Chicago last year. They received 25 years in the penitentiary. Bernard Smith and Ralph McKee, both Chicago, were freed. The jury deliberated from 5:40 p.m. to 5 a.m. Judge Claire C Edwards and others were awakened for the verdict. Relatives cried and one sergeant, Bernard Smith’s father, wept with joy.

The Elks lodge in Lebanon held its first social evening at the new hall with a floral decor scheme from Fairview Gardens and Paul C. Tauer greenhouse. Exalted Ruler Fred Rhodes and Mrs. Rhodes appeared in royal costumes as the kings of the night, while 175 couples danced to Stewart's Amphion Orchestra. The event featured vocal numbers, a Japanese garden dining room, and a unique parasol specialty dance, with guests from nearby cities in attendance.

Negro bandit meets death on gallows in Chicago
Chicago public records show Lawrence Washington, a Negro bandit, hanged for the 1924 murder of Nunzio Mascolino, an Evanston confectioner. He shot the merchant during a store robbery, wounded a policeman, and faced execution after pleading guilty. Governor Small denied clemency.

Charles H. Duke a lifelong Boone county resident died yesterday at his sister Cora Fricke's home in Anderson after a visit there. He had returned from Florida where he spent the winter and had been ill for months. He was sixty four and formerly foreman at Oak Hill cemetery before joining Lebanon Flower and Plant Co. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery after services at the Baptist church.

Mission Society Has Interesting Program
The Missionary Society of the First Baptist Church met Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. S. T. Reynolds. After opening with a hymn and prayer, officers were read, and a brief business session followed. Daisy Riley led devotional based on Matthew, with themes of light and hope, and talks covered the Strong Place Community House, Kodanc Orphanage in Alaska, Los Angeles Baptist Center, and the Fellowship House in Omaha.
