Red Fire Marks Installation of Elks Lodge 639
A special train blazing with red fire approached Lebanon on December 4 1900 causing panic. Frankfort band and 150 Antlered Herd members helped restore order as Lebanon lodge Elks No 639 was instituted by District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler F W Urbahns with Frankfort Lodge 560. New Elks Lodge Home Opens In Lebanon Indiana
The $60,000 Leb anon Lodge No. 685 B P O Elks will formally open with ceremonies next week. The English style building, 60 by 102 feet, features buff stone trim, asbestos slate roof, and a comprehensive layout including lounge, lodge room, secretary’s room, women’s lounge, balcony, bowling and billiard areas, kitchen and dining spaces, and basement facilities with Medusa waterproofing.

Over Half Legions Quotas Pledged For Endowment Drive
Emmett Brown Post has subscribed over half of its 1500 quota in the 5 million dollar national endowment fund drive. Ten of twenty teams have not yet reported. Chair Russell Mefford expects full funding by late next week. The drive funds aid for disabled ex service men and veteran orphans, with a public cooperative approach and minimal expenses. The Legion rehabilitation service has recruited top psychiatric experts to support care, aiming for permanent care through government and Legion efforts.

Hans Jensen Steamer Runs Ashore Near White Head N S
The Danish steamer Hans Jensen, Captain Kofred, traveling from New York to Montreal, ran ashore on a ledge at White Head near Guysboro N S last night. The ship's bottom was penetrated by rocks and two holds flooded. The captain and crew stayed aboard overnight while the Canadian marine department offered aid and awaited daylight to assess the damage.

Lebanon High School Victorious in Central Indiana Track Meet
Lebanon high school won the Central Indiana Track Meet held at Wabash College this morning. Frankfort took second and Noblesville third. This afternoon the Central Indiana Oratorical contest will be at Crawfordsville high school auditorium with Lebanon entrants Miss Alberta Wysong and Wayne Ashley. Judges include Prof N Brigance head of the speaking department at Wabash, Prof Fred Ormes of economics at Wabash, and Chase Harding Crawfordsville attorney.

A court contest nears the Indiana Supreme Court over Moorehead bus regulation. Attorney General Gillian says a common carrier includes all buses and trucks for hire, bringing about 40,000 vehicles under state's certificate regime. Lebanon high school golfers fell 17 to 3 in an 18 hole match at Alen Country Club. Crawfordsville players Reichard 3 Basye 3 Herring 3 Flannigan 2 Gerard 3 Streebach 8 led with scores under 90 including an 84 by Gerard and 87 by Flannigan. Child's Arm Cut In Fall On Trash Pile
Madge Gill five, daughter of Mr and Mrs Clarence Gill of North Lebanon street, suffered a deep gash on her wrist when she fell on glass in a trash pile while playing in the alley behind her home about ten this morning. Dr E A Rainey attended and gave anesthesia before seven stitches closed the wound.

Theatro tragedy in Vienna leaves one dead two hurt
In Vienna a theater audience is shattered when a woman guest fires six shots from a nearby box during Peer Gynt. The slain man is Todor Arnautovitch Panizza, 46, and two others are wounded. The assailant is identified as Mencia Karniciu, 23.

Women of Lebanon and Boone county will attend The Reporter’s Free Cooking School at the Colonial Theatre Tuesday at 7 pm. A Boone Kitchen Cabinet and a Roper Gas Range will be sold to the highest bidder from bids made by attending women, each session allowing four bids for the cabinet and four for the stove, with 25 free basket prizes daily. Mrs. M. E. Forbes will direct demonstrations on home management and cooking, plus tips on summer house arrangements and picnic lunches. Memorial Day plans and the Memorial sermon at the Presbyterian church are outlined, with a parade, cemetery ceremonies, and speakers including Indiana University professor William Lynch.

Robbery and assault in Indianapolis house break
A man, described as a black assailant, forced entry into Mrs. L. Bi. Williams’s home in Indianapolis early today. He bound her, gagged her, and threatened violence, stealing a diamond ring and purses while her two children watched in terror. The husband arrived soon after.
