In yesterday’s primary E D Wright won the Democratic mayor nomination over A P W Hooton and B F Pavey by 165 votes as anti Klan sentiment shaped the ballot. Republican Paul O Tauer captured the mayoralty nomination by 231 votes over C D King and Zera Smith, with Klan aligned candidates prevailing in the Democratic split.
At the weekly convocation at the high school the Senior class play Adam and Fra was featured with cast members presenting bits. Supt Van Riper introduced each performer as skits drew strong attention. Fred Donaldson urged attendance at the Military Training Camp at Camp Knox Kentucky.

Indianapolis May 6 Seymour and Akron join Indiana towns in the American Legion five million dollar endowment drive for disabled veterans and war orphans. Seymour's quota is 1700 and Akron's 200 toward Indiana's 200 200 goal. Commander McConnell urges every Legionnaire to contribute and cites the need to aid 35000 war orphans and daily deaths of disabled veterans while stressing child welfare and the cost advantage of early intervention.
Al Bennett and John Terwilleger pleaded guilty in city court to assault and battery after a disturbance at the polls. Bennett paid $30 total. Terwilleger paid $35 total.
The Reporter announces a Free Cooking School at the Colonial Theatre next week in Lebanon Boone county. Archie Pierce 33, World War veteran, died this morning at 1 at his Max home after an extended tuberculosis illness contracted during wartime service. Born near Pleasant View in Boone County, he lived mostly there with a brief stay in Hamilton County. Survived by widow Sylvia, father Hugh and stepmother, and two brothers Noble and Frank. Funeral Friday at East Christian Church Advance with Rev. W. P. Kibbey. burial Dover Cemetery.
Indianapolis reports show Ku Klux Klan strength persisted in Indiana primaries despite the murder case against D. C. Stephenson. John Duvall led in Indianapolis GOP mayoral race aided by klan support, while Lemcke challenged him. Klan-backed nominees won in Franklin and Kokomo, but Terre Haute and Shelbyville saw klan-backed candidates lose.
Wallace-Hill Co announces its opening as Boone county distributors for Dodge Brothers. The Kirtley building at 316 West South Street serves as the home of the organization with ample space for car display, service, and a full Dodge Brothers parts stock. The firm plans approved service stations across the county and aims to offer top quality service to patrons.
Boone county commissioners awarded thirteen bridge contracts with nine going to L. M. Sandlin and B. R. Kern and the rest to Kernodle & Fulwider. Total bids reached 21314.50 against an estimate of 25410. The largest was a 18-foot triple concrete bridge over Sugar Creek near Thorntown to Kernodle & Fulwider for 5455.0. The second largest was a 40-foot steel bridge with concrete abutments over Prairie Creek on Lafayette avenue northwest of Lebanon, also to Kernodle & Fulwider.
Amanda J. Moore aged sixty nine died Tuesday evening at 5 45 at her daughter Mrs Robert Pettit's 915 Lafayette avenue after months of illness with complications. Born October 11 1855 in Russell county Virginia she moved to Kentucky at age ten and to Lebanon in 1917. She was a Christian church member in Fairwell Fleming county Kentucky. Her husband preceded her in death. Surviving are two daughters Mrs Jesse Beaman Flora Indiana and Mrs Robert Pettit Lebanon. Burial Thursday at 8 30 at Mrs Pettit's home with Rev Henry Ashley officiating at Oak Hill cemetery.
Pittsburgh residents were trapped as a massive bomb shattered four buildings in South Swissvale’s business district. Fire crews recovered two more bodies, raising the death toll to eight, with more than twenty injured from the blast and ensuing fire.
Miss Clara Snepp directs a city art display featuring work from every Lebson grade school pupil. Exhibits open May 8 at Central, May 12 at Harney, and May 15 at Stokes, continuing one week each. Samples will travel to the John Herron Art Institute for Indiana grade-work showcase.

Drainage commissioner Owen Gates hopes completion by fall with remaining material east of town toward the railroad.
