Aged Thorntown Man Killed by Sycamore Flyer
John Heffelmire, 76, of Thorntown, was struck and killed by the Sycamore Flyer as he crossed North Pearl street near the Big Four tracks Saturday night. The coroner deemed death to have occurred eight hours before discovery Sunday morning. Heffelmire lived east of town, later moving into Thorntown, with wife ill and two children surviving. The accident marked a fourth crossing death at the same crossing in seven years. Funeral planned Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the residence.

Frankfort Indiana March 16 fire of undetermined origin last Sunday destroyed the superstructure of the Johnson Township School at Scircleville Clinton county. Loss estimated at 60000. Firemen saved the lower part of the building. Firefighters worked until midnight. Recent rains aided by providing pools for pumping water. A new gymnasium north of the school was not damaged. Pupils to be housed in the gym or moved to Hillisburg School nearby. The two story 1913 building.

Riot erupts as Soviet partisans clash in Chicago theater
