A tornado struck Boone County Tuesday evening, damaging Jamestown area and nearby farms. It knocked down wires and poles, blocked roads, unroofed barns, and destroyed several buildings while sparing lives. Three High School Public Speaking Contests Planned
Lebanon high school prepares for three upcoming events led by Mrs. Cora Doehleman. The state discussion contest at Indiana University centers on child labor and the constitution, with finalists from Lebanon to be chosen next week. The county and district rounds run March 28 and April in Indiana, with prizes from Boone County Bar Association and The Lebanon Reporter. A Kokomo high school debate on March 27 will feature four girls per side arguing for and against a federal amendment to regulate child labor.

Three paintings by Mrs. J. W. Shumate of Lebanon are on display at the Marshal Field galleries in Chicago, promoted by the Daughters of Indiana. One work, La Fountain St. Paul du var, was reproduced in the Chicago Evening Post art issue, the sole Indiana artist featured among 132 entries. The other works are The Top of the Wall and The Road to St. Jeanette. La Fountain depicts the ancient fountain in Saint Paul visited by artists, a wash house serving the community.
