The funeral of Philip T. Clem ents will be held at Joseph s Catholic church Thursday morning at 9 00, Father Charles Marshall officiating. Interment will be at St Joseph s Catholic cemetery.

Charles Mitchell sold his stake in Oak Drug Store to Al Masters and bought into Central Pharmacy from Thomas Dearth. Hammond and Mitchell form Hammond Mitchell at Central with Masters remaining sole owner of Oak. Mitchell, a 16 year Oak Drug Store veteran, previously ran shops in Jamestown and Noblesville. Masters has led Oak for 30 years and will continue actively. Oak and Central now operate as Hammond Mitchell and Masters runs Oak alone.

In Indianapolis the Indiana House passed the Sherwood bill raising the gasoline tax from 2 to 3 cents a gallon by a 58 to 34 vote, sending the measure to the Senate where a similar Cann bill had cleared. The tax increase would allocate three quarters to counties and one quarter to cities and towns. The House also approved Pittenger’s measure to add six bills to the tax levy for four years beginning 1926 for a $10 million Indiana World War memorial. The Kissinger bill to abolish the state highway commission faced resistance as steps to suspend rules were considered amid an ongoing investigation of the commission. Conference committees planned to reconcile the general appropriations bill, with Pittenger set to propose dropping several Senate amendments. The Senate trimmed the total appropriations slightly from the House measure. Bible education bill advances, while a companion failed in the Senate after constitutional hurdles. The Alldredge workers' compensation measure failed in the Senate, though the Freeman bill with similar terms passed the House with amendments to exclude certain workers.

Al Galvin slipped on the icy pavement in front of Boone County State Bank Monday night and suffered three fractured ribs. He will be confined to his home for two weeks due to the injuries.
Mechanicburg volunteers rally to aid the Doty family after a Sunday night fire destroyed their home and belongings. Mrs Doty and son Leon stay with sisters in Frankfort while Mr Doty and two older children reside with Earl and Nellie Doty. Niagara Fire Insurance adjuster visited Mechanicsburg confirming about $800 in coverage.
General John J. Pershing, en route to the United States after a South American tour, was confined to his Havana hotel room today. Officials said the illness is not serious and his engagements for the day were canceled after he arrived yesterday afternoon from Santiago.
