Jim Evans, a Clemson engineering graduate who served as a code specialist in the 94th Infantry Division during World War II, built a peanut business in Lebanon after buying his uncle Cary Fall’s operation in 1947. From 150 vending machines and 300 pounds of nuts weekly, he expanded by sampling customers and selling packaged nuts on a custom order basis straight from the truck.
