Mamie and Dwight Eisenhower mark their Golden Wedding Eve while Ike blasts college campus demonstrations he calls cockeyed kooks. He urges firm action by colleges and parents, praises the youth, and discusses the planned Eisenhower College and his family milestones.
Two city crashes near Memorial Park caused extensive property damage with no injuries. At 5:55 p.m. yesterday a vehicle hit James R. Ping as he turned into the park’s north entrance. Earlier, at 9:30 a.m., Anna Kirchner’s car struck Ping’s, causing $650 damage to her 1965 Chevrolet and $200 damage to Ping’s 1957 Chevrolet. No injuries were reported and no citations issued. A second wreck on Indianapolis Avenue involved Raymond Cox and Donetta Robertson. Cox’s car was a total loss and Robertson’s 1964 Pontiac, worth $350, sustained minor damage. Cox was cited for failure to yield right of way. no injuries reported.
Maj. James H. Kasler of Indianapolis and Lt. Col. James R. Hopkins of Norman led a Wednesday Air Force strike on Hanoi oil supplies. Kasler reported bombing a ridge line and 32 fuel tanks, claiming 90 percent destruction as fires and smoke rose to great heights. He credited the mission as precise with multiple secondary explosions.
Mrs Charles Dinsmore was named trustee of Harrison Township to succeed her husband who resigned July 1 to join the Western Community School District board. Her term lasts until November when a new trustee will be chosen to take office January 1. The commissioners also accepted Earl Potts's resignation from the Aviation Committee and appointed Dr John Coltrain of Thorn town to the panel. They postponed a decision on a 20 cent cumulative building fund for Witham Memorial Hospital until October's budget meeting and planned to name five Boone County Board of Health members at Friday's session, aiming to have the board ready for state health officials by March 31.
In a bulletin from Iion County Criminal Court Judge Saul I Rabb overruled motions to release three teenage suspects in the torture death of 16 year old Sylvia Likens. The judge did rule that the youths may be transferred from the Indiana Reformatory to another facility.
Lebanon council faces 333 name petition in the county auditor's office for a 280000 storm sewer project. Mayor Herb Ransdell expects quick verification and council action by July. Petitioners seek bonds, with notices, remonstrances and a 30 day window for opposition. Funds target sewage upgrades and one or two bridge rebuilds.

Superintendent Gibbs says Heeter offered sketches as suggestions while not under contract. district chose another architect. Trial date not set. attorney James Buchanan filed the suit. Isaac Gregg represents the schools.

Two 18 year old youths from Indiana and Ohio and a juvenile girl will appear Tuesday in Whitestown Magistrate Court on violations of the 1935 Beverage Act. The Rev Kenneth R Vaught is appointed pastor of the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Lebanon succeeding Rev Paul W McFarland who retired after 14 years. Vaught comes from Fountain Square EUB Church in Muncie where he served eight years and is a Terre Haute native a Wiley High School graduate. He earned a 1957 degree from Evangelical Theological Seminary Naperville Il and studied at Indiana State College. He and his wife Helen will begin duties Sunday.
County commissioners and councilmen jointly approved sale of more than 90 acres of prime industrial and business ground across from the County Farm south of Lebanon. Two tracts carry a minimum price of 140000 with bids opening August 4. Sealed bids will be for each tract separately, with bids per acre ranging from 1100 to 2500 and averages around 1500 for 82 acres and 1700 for 12 acres. Proceeds go to the general fund for tax relief. the land will then be taxed. Auditor says it will be on tax rolls. Lebanon officials praise the move as boosting jobs and assets. A zoning variance for 13.77 acres across the street, owned by Daniel A Davis, was also approved for a gas station by an oil company near the 4-H Grounds on Route 52.
Kingston Jamaica two people drowned in flash floods while ongoing Jamaica floods since Sunday. A teen age girl and a man were reported missing in separate incidents as authorities assess property damage and loss.
