State FHA Director John W. King visited Boone County after the Palm Sunday tornado to review three percent emergency disaster loans. He and County supervisor George O. Cox spoke with victims applying for credit to rebuild. stops included Moncil Cavin’s partially rebuilt home and the Ralph J. Hopkins farm where blueprints and specs were reviewed. The tour highlighted 23 loan applications in Lebanon’s FHA office and noted failed losses including a wife and son in the Hopkins case.

Government troops scored a major victory in a search and destroy operation 40 miles southwest of Saigon. A Communist regiment trapped hundreds of Vietnamese troops 200 miles north. The U S spokesman said 255 Viet Cong were dead by body count. two Americans were killed and two wounded. Thirty miles north of Saigon American and Australian troops began breaking off a joint operation against Zone D with no sign of victory. U S jets flew 67 sorties hitting targets near Hanoi and Vinh. A U S plane was shot down in South Vietnam. a B57 crashed at Da Nang with two aboard escaping. Youth Is Hurt As Truck Clips Bridge Today
An 18 year old Boone County driver was found unconscious east of Advance after his truck clipped a bridge culvert knocked down a telephone pole and tore fencing. The crash on West 146th Street occurred about 7 15 a m. The vehicle owned by Billy L Beck and driven by Thomas H Owens was a 1956 model. A passing motorist took Owens to a Thorn town physician. He was not reported seriously injured and damage was estimated at 500 dollars. Deputy Sheriff John Denney investigated.

Teens fined for drinking party near Terre Haute
Twenty two teenagers were arrested at a May 25 drinking party at a Wabash River cabin near Terre Haute. In court Tuesday Juvenile Court Referee Robert Hagmann fined nine 18 year olds $25 each for illegal possession of alcoholic beverages and placed 13 younger members on probation for a month with loss of driving privileges. They were ordered to clean up the cabin and place a wreath on a soldiers sailors monument in the city square.
