Washington June 30 Ten and a half years of Prohibition enforcement by the Treasury ends this midnight as Attorney General Mitchell takes control from Secretary Mellon. He will lead a staff and policy largely unchanged, with G A Youngquist as assistant attorney general and Amos W Woodcock directing enforcement. Treasury retains regulation of industrial liquor and smuggling oversight. Since 1920 about 400 million dollars has funded the effort. The campaign has proven costly in lives and jobs and spurred graft investigations. The transfer may shift more cases to the Justice Department to speed prosecutions and coordinate investigations.

One Killed as U S 62 Crash Incurred Side Road
A federal prohibition agent was killed instantly and two men and a woman were injured today when cars transporting records crashed on U S Road No 62 south of Lebanon. Roy Shaffer of Columbus D was the victim, dying from a broken neck after his car struck a telephone post near the Raymond Gochenour farm. Joe Wolf, also of Columbus, was seriously injured. Mrs F N Grossman of Chicago sustained chest and shoulder injuries. The wreck occurred after the group drove all night from Columbus to Chicago. Shaffer’s car hit a ditch and the pole after he allegedly fell asleep at the wheel. Continued on Page Three.

Body of plane crash victim arrives today
The body of Verlin Johnny Wilson, 21, an aviator killed last week at Nogales while instructing a student, arrived in Indianapolis this afternoon and was taken to the Phillippi funeral parlor in Zionsville. His father, B. R. Wilson, is traveling from Florida and has not yet been notified. Local radio station WKBF broadcast his description to locate the parent. Wilson lived in Boone county and attended Lebanon high school. his father once owned a Royalton grocery business.
