Sheriff summoned when a woman dressed as a man disturbed John Parr and his wife near Sugar Creek. The visitor, later identified as the wife of John Wills, claimed to seek domestic work to fund a Indianapolis home. She was detained briefly in Lebanon before release.
Rev F L Hardy leads a party including Wo Ranedell Misses Bonweil Dacknon Neal Stephenson Resnvlis Witt and Mrs Essex to Franklin College for Indiana Baptist Assembly. The School of Methods runs through next Sunday with Hardy delivering the closing address and diplomas to course graduates. Prof J G Brown plans a Model Sunday School study and addresses. Brown attends July 7 sessions in Indianapolis for convention planning. assembly moves to Logansport in October.
Indianapolis market brief notes hog receipts around 9 500 with carts and dunnage, 150 sheep and lambs, packers active buyers, supply light. Early trade up 1 to 1.5 cents, most sales from 38.70 to 40.80 dollars. calves steady to lower, sheep and lambs weaker.
George W. Felker of Logansport spent Sunday in Leanon, pursuing local errands and visiting friends, as reported in regional notes.
General Metaryre Stelchen, formerly of this city, was overcome by heat while working in concrete construction in Indianapolis near Churchian Avenue and the Union Railroad tracks. He was taken to his home at 334 Robson Street by City Hospital ambulance. His condition is not serious.
Schuyler Huddleston of Lizton plans to sue Ben Hur Transportation Co for damages, alleging wrongful ejection from a car after a dispute over fare. He bought a round trip ticket to Indianapolis, a new conductor demanded fare without a destination, and Huddleston was forcibly removed near Pittsboro, forcing him to walk home.
In Lebar, residents seek comfortable sleep as record heat continues. Some sleep on porches or in yards using fans while many crowd into cool rooms. Streets and autos bustle at night. Sunday trips to the country and along Sugar Creek offer relief with swimming pools at the interurban bridge.
Farmers along the Whitestown area complained of Gypsies camping on the public highway. Sheriff Mehupyert was notified Sunday and ordered the group to relocate. After a tense effort, the entire caravan left the vicinity, and local farmers breathed relief as the last caravan disappeared from sight.

Frank Thompson, a juror in the Mick will case, learned Sunday of his sister Mrs J A Rittenburg's death following injuries from a Gary Indiana accident. He left for Newman IL to attend the funeral as the trial paused with evidence taking set to resume Tuesday.

The hot nights drive crowds to a local swimming hole and automobile drives. A road accident near Gary leaves Mrs. Rittenberg dead from a broken leg and skull fracture. Ellen Evang, at her son Ora Powell’s home in Ia, suffered a paralytic stroke Saturday evening. Her left side was affected and she remains in critical condition.
Troutman, the Lebanon boy playing as Kommers, kept up his terrific batting for the Pittzburg Nationals. In Saturday’s game he went 3 for 5, and on Sunday he was 3 for 4 with a three-base hit among his drives.
The Indianapolis Star reports that several college girls gave up their summer vacations to support the Summer Mission for sick children. Notable participants include Miss Bess L. Hutchings of Lebanon, Ind., a Delaware High School graduate with training at Cosmopolitan School of Music and work at Christamore Settlement. Her duties focus on visiting families and mobilizing friends for the cause.
Wilbur Newton Claypool of Crawfordsville died Sunday after seven months of heart trouble at 130. He owned M L Claypool Music House in Crawfordsville and was connected with the city. In Indianapolis Indiana Rear Admiral George Brown aged 78 died last night at 7 30 at 8 Middle Drive Woodruff Place after months of heart related illness. H G Anderson reports to Sheriff McRoberts that a valuable black horse purchased for 3180 disappeared from his barn Sunday night. The horse was turn ed into the barn Sunday evening and missing by Monday morning.
Miss Florence Atkinson came Sunday to spend the week with her mother Mrs Minnie Atkinson.
Walt Mc Totyre Ivan McClain William and deck Martin tangled near the south side school building Sunday noon over a quarrel about women. A daughter was born to Mr and Mrs Alya Smali.
The annual meeting of First Christian churches in Boone County was held at the fair grounds. About six churches attended, with visitors from Clinton Montgomery and Kendrick areas. The body of George Townsend, Chicago railway promoter, washed ashore on Goose Island in the Missouri river six miles west of Kansas City. Townsend disappeared from the Baltimore hotel last Tuesday after leaving a note about leaping into the river. His associates cruised all night, and the body will be cremated in St Louis with ashes scattered at the Kansas City Clay County and St. Joseph Interurban line.
The Moose edged the Eastern Indians of Indianapolis 11 to 1 in eleven innings Sunday after a slow start. Allen pitched superbly for Moose, who rallied from a big early deficit as Tie Soeala led the offense and preparations noted for upcoming games against the Indianapolis Oxfords on July 4.
