More than 350 residents attended the Welcome Wagon Newcomers Club of Lebanon annual Pet Parade at Memorial Park last night. Emcee Robert Moran of Thorntown introduced a panel of judges including Mayor Robert M. Campbell and several local officials. Prizes were awarded across categories such as Best Costumed Pet, Most Unusual Pet, Best Cat, Best Large Dog, Best Small Dog, and a Humane Society Award for an unusual pet rabbit. The 1976 parade committee was chaired by Mrs. Vikki Moore with several assistants, and McDonald’s supplied free orange drinks for the crowd.

Council approves annexation for Holiday Inn expansion
Lebanon City Council paused standard rules to approve first reading on a petition for annexation connected to a Holiday Inn expansion. The project would extend over about five acres east of the existing site and add a two story 113 room hotel with indoor pool, recreation space, and related facilities.
