Tennis Courts Add Backdrops At Abner Longley Park
Development at Abner Longley Park in Lebanon continues with new backdrops for the three tennis courts. The 42 acre site, started in the late 1950s, features a shelter house, picnic grounds, softball diamond, playground, camping area, ice skating in winter, and a closed vehicle access design. Local volunteers funded the backdrops and park improvements, with Darrell Williamson as superintendent and Morris Adair leading the Community Park Development Board. Plans include resurfacing the parking lot, rustic entrance posts, and more facilities funded by the city budget where last year 3315 was allocated for maintenance and operations.

Woman Found Dead in Crawl Space in Indianapolis Home

A Thorntown couple, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Smith, lost their home and furnishings when a can of glue exploded. They will host an open house on Tuesday July 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Thorntown Kiwanis Room to accept help. They reside at 400 North Pearl Street and hope to rebuild at 210 West Bow Street after Smith's Navy service. Smith suffered second and third degree burns but is home from Witham Hospital. Relatives and friends have provided furniture. bedding and cooking ware are still needed.
