Copeland Sentenced to 25 Years for Dillinger Bank Robbery
Greencastle Indiana June 2 Harry Copeland 38 a Dillinger gang member was sentenced to 25 years in Indiana State Prison by Judge Wilbur S Donner in Putnam Circuit Court for the Oct 23 1933 Central National Bank robbery that netted 74782 09 Copeland admitted he was the first to enter the bank and said he received 4600 cash and 14000 in bonds He drove the getaway car and denied gang members used machine guns Also named were John Dillinger Harry Pierpoint Charles Makley and Russell Clark The courtroom was crowded with spectators as Copeland faced the indictment after being moved from Michigan City prison where he was a parole violator.

Indianapolis June 29. Government meteorologist J H Armington predicted slight relief tomorrow from record June heat that has dominated Indiana for three days and caused four deaths. He said temperatures will drop 5 to 10 degrees while today’s heat again climbs toward century readings. A new 100 degree June heat record was set June 27 and 101 yesterday. By 11 am it reached 96 degrees, matching the prior day.

King Home Destroyed by Fire Near Lebanon
The home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry King northeast of Lebanon was destroyed by fire Thursday noon. Sparks from the cook stove chimney are thought to have started the blaze. Flames enveloped the rear of the house before discovery. most first floor furnishings were saved, while nothing was removed from the second floor. Loss is insured. Four Fort Wayne youths held in Ligonier slaying
Four youths from Fort Wayne were jailed in Noble county on murder charges for the killing of Edward Keasey a 52 year old merchant policeman in Ligonier Indiana. A confessed shooter Virgil Hoffman 22 led authorities in the case. The men allegedly planned to hijack slot machines and Keasey confronted them after they were tracked down by night officer Earl Knapp.

First New Wheat on Market Grades High
The first new wheat was received by Reveal and Beydler grain company on Thursday. It came from Shaw farm south of Lebanon, grown by Walter Murphy, averaging 62 pounds to the bushel and graded No 1 with a cent premium. Later the Ed Morris farm near Lebanon sent wheat that also graded No 1, averaging 63 pounds per bushel with 10 percent moisture, both lots noted for excellent quality.
