Policy Board Selected For Police Training In Indiana
The governor signed a 1967 bill making mandatory police training a requirement for all Indiana law enforcement officers. A Policy Board was named with State Police Supt. Robert O Neal as chairman and includes chiefs, sheriffs, and educators for multi year terms. The first meeting is set for July 11 to plan funding, recruitment, and curriculum for a police academy.

Sheriff James McConnaha and Deputy John Denney chased and captured Gerald Cole, 36, in Lebanon after a tip. Cole faced theft charges in Boone County with a $2500 bond set, arraignment scheduled, and a nationwide warrant pending in Kansas Arizona and Illinois.
