United Press International reports Indiana’s 1962 traffic fatalities climbed to 327 by midweek, up from 457 on the same date last year. The weekend toll reached 16. MoF Alfres, 48, of Peru, a heating contractor, died after a Kokomo car crash. A Kokomo man riding with him was seriously hurt. A 74 year old California woman died in a crash near Urbana as Harry Henderson, 45, of Urbana, was cited for failing to yield. Dennis Andrews, 17, of Romney, was in the other vehicle.

State Senator Maurice L. Mendenhall dies at 64 after a long illness in Sheridan Indiana.
