High whiskey prescription fees labeled not profiteering

St Louis officials ruled that charges from 5 to 10 dollars for writing whiskey prescriptions are not gouging. Doctors claimed writers cramps force higher prices to deter “pretenders” while insisting they would not charge genuine patients extra. Revenue agents dismissed fears of Lever Act prosecution.

Mechanicsburg Defeats Hoosier Giants In High-Scoring Tilt

Mechanicsburg beat the Hoosier Giants 11 to 3 at the Burg yesterday afternoon. Pitcher Blubaugh fanned 11 while allowing seven hits as Mechanicsburg rallied with two seventh inning runs and an offensive burst. Wilson led the offense with a triple and a double, and three locals from Lebanon contributed. Next Sunday Mechanicsburg hosts a doubleheader with the Hoosier Giants.

Mrs. W. S. Long Improves After Fall Injuries

Mrs. W. S. Long, 82, recovering at home of daughter Mrs. M. Dy. Jéney on West Washington street after a fall Friday morning. She sustained serious head injuries and damage to her left shoulder and elbow but is improving.
