Old Capitol oil painting by Ruth C George joins IU Student Union collection
The prize winning Birthplace of the Indiana State Constitution 1816 by Ruth C George, a Lebanon artist, was donated by the Xi Psi Phi Dental Fraternity and will join Indiana University Student Union and permanent collections. The work, first honored in 1966 at the Statehouse Art Salon, has appeared at Corydon and the Indiana State Fair, and is tied to Sesquicentennial events. Mrs. George recently underwent surgery and was recovering at home before admission to St Vincent's Hospital for observation.

Three Slain In Portage Bank Holdup
In Portage Indiana three people were killed in a bank robbery at the Northern Indiana Bank and Trust Co after bandit Keith Stanton shot four, with Tony Gregoy and Douglas Parry dying at the scene and Howard Rekau dying later. Stanton wrested the gun away and fled with $2700. Parry previously robbed of $28000 last January.

Three more traffic deaths in Indiana lifted the 1967 toll to at least 634. Elva Stewart 19 of Ashland Kentucky died in Muncie from injuries after a car skid 150 feet off a highway and hit a tree. Frank J Janes 19 of Joliet Illinois was killed on U S 41 near Lyford Parke County when a driver tried to push him back into his seat after dozing, a guard rail crash threw him out. Charles Miller 67 of Terre Haute restaurant owner died Monday night in a collision with a truck as he turned left. truck driver Wilfred Cardinal 51 of St Louis was injured.
