Thorntown Woman Killed In Head-On Crash
A 44 year old Thorntown area woman died after her car collided head on with a California driver on US 40 eight miles east of Brazil. Ann M Owens, 57, Covena California, reportedly lost control and swerved into Mrs Fall's westbound lane. Owens was treated at Union Hospital in Terre Haute in critical condition.

Marine Killed At Phibai Was Graduate Of Lebanon
Pfc Bobby Lee Reynolds 21 of Lebanon died of gunshot wounds in Phibai Viet Nam becoming Boone County s first war casualty. He enlisted 16 months ago served with C Company 2nd Battalion 4th Marine Division and will be buried at Myers Mortuary Lebanon with funeral plans forthcoming. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1964 active in FFA and sports. He attended Browns Wonder Church and helped after the Boone County tornado. He is survived by his parents, a brother, a sister and a half brother.

United Press International reports continued hot dry weather in Indiana with no relief expected before next weekend. Temperatures reached into the 90s statewide, Evansville 97 and Indianapolis 95 the warmest in the season, while a weak cold front may touch the far north Sunday. Thunderstorms remain unlikely, with only brief showers possible and rain total forecast at about 0.75 inch north to 0.25 inch south over five days. Overnight lows stayed upper 60s to low 70s as heat persisted.

Two Killed Today and Weekend Indiana Toll Rises
Indiana reported two deaths today amid a 19 fatality weekend pushing the 1966 toll to at least 721. A Cincinnati man was crushed beside his car on Interstate 465 near Indianapolis by a truck driven by Mitchell Austin. Bobby Crutcher, 17, of Richmond, died when the vehicle he rode in wrecked on a rural road near Richmond, hitting an utility pole and brick wall. Driver David W. Scott, 18, of Goshen, Ohio, survived with minor injuries along with two others. Also amid the weekend crashes, a pair of Louisville women died in a car bus collision, with two others critically hurt. A Star reporter, who had just filed an undercover skid-row story, was among the dead. The two Louisville victims were Alice Hornemen and Lena Ruth Towers. Their Volkswagen collided with a Greyhound bus on U.S. 150 west of Palmyra.
