Indianapolis June 27 UP Governor Schricker in a sweeping ruling era appointed Rep. Howard Batman to the Public Service Commission. Batman succeeds Ralph Hanna whose resignation takes effect July 1. The Supreme Court ruling voided Republican decont obligation laws and affirmed Schricker as head of Indiana patronage, expanding executive control over appointments.
The Variation Bible School will be held at Fox Creek Methodist Church in the evening. The program features teachers, announcers, scripts, and a compact staff overseeing department sections. Continued on page six.
The Senate Naval Affairs Committee blocked the navy’s request for emergency legislation to keep sailors in service beyond enlistments during the national crisis. It approved a plan that would require future volunteers to serve beyond expiration if Congress proclaims the national welfare imperiled.
