Thorntown Woman Crowned 1972 Mrs. Boone County
Thorntown homemaker and elementary teacher Jane Lee Johnson was selected Saturday as Mrs. Boone County 1972. The ceremony at LHS Auditorium crowned Johnson amid a large crowd and she will reign during the July 4th Festival week.

Speeding Car Crash Is Fatal To Two In Boone
Two young men died in a two car crash on U S 421 near Kirklin in Boone County shortly before 4 p m Saturday. Rolland G Woessner 35 of Indianapolis and Larry J Anderson 27 of Tipton were killed. Ronald J Anderson 21 of Tipton was treated and released for minor injuries. Witnesses cited Woessner driving left of center at about 8 mph prior to the collision. Both drivers were pinned in the wreckage and both cars a 1972 Buick were totaled. Rites for Anderson and Woessner were scheduled in Tipton and Indianapolis respectively. Investigating trooper noted possible speeds near 85 to 100 mph with conflicting reports.

In Peru Ind FBI and police search for the hijacker who leaped from an American Airlines jet with 502000 dollars. Pilot Leroy Berkebile said the hijacker had little chance of survival and described the jump as dangerous while authorities expand the four square mile search near the Mississinewa Reservoir area in Wabash County. Meanwhile McGovern claimed 1510.5 delegate votes toward a first ballot at the Democratic National Convention with new uncommitted delegates from 12 states joining his effort.
