Lebanon City Council Awards Clark Street Improvement Contract
Lebanon city council in regular session awarded the contract for South Clark street cement sidewalks from Dicks street to Noble street to Kernodle & Miller after bids of 1.29 and 1.35 per square yard for concrete work. Bids for East Busby street were set to be received July 9 at 7:00 p m. The Senerave Company contract for a fire truck was approved with a $500 bond and delivery within 150 days.

Darlington Youth Drill Company Formed Amid Military Training
Young men of Darlington organized a drill company after a meeting at the town hall. Eighteen joined under Heck Hamilton and Joe Frain with drill squads formed and marching orders issued. Officials believe hundreds in the area may join this new group.

War Secretary Names Local Exemption Board
Indiana exemption boards were published after War Secretary Baker notified Governor Goodrich that President Wilson selected the local boards. Boone county is composed of Sheriff D. O. Lewis, Len Vitus, and Dr. G. A. Schultz. Four divisions will organize exemptions, and boards will forward registration cards to the state conscription headquarters in Indianapolis.

Old resident George W. Little dies near Darlington
George W. Little aged eighty four died at his home two miles north of Darlington at 5 AM Monday after a brief illness from hardening of the arteries. He was born April 16 1835 and married Ruth Corbin in September 1843. Survived by four children Lew Wallace Little Charlie W Sarah and Emma Belle. Funeral at East Christian Church Wednesday at 1 PM with Rev Charles Campbell and Rev Lo M Dunbar. Burial in Be cemetery. Daughter Sarah remains seriously ill and may attend services.
