Baltimore dispatches detail the Democratic convention's day as resolutions committee favors deferring platform planks and endorses Kern for permanent chair, with Bryan influential yet sidelined. Progressives push Kern candidacy amid seating fights, while delegates clash over the platform and nomination prospects.
John F. McCoy and Miss Chine Hiew were wed last evening by the Rev J B Brown at the Central Christian church parsonage. The bride is the daughter of Albert J. Blew of south town. The couple will reside in Whiteley county.
Weather bulletin notes sunrise at 4 and sunset at 7 18. Generally fair tonight and Thursday with cooler temperatures especially in the extreme northwest.
John Sines pleaded guilty to larceny for stealing an electric controller from the Interurban power house. He was sentenced in Boone circuit court to the State Reformatory at Jeffersonville for one to fourteen years, fined $1, and disfranchised for one year. His wife urged clemency as Sheriff Harter to escort him to the reformatory tomorrow.
Rail workers in the state rally against the current voter registration law. Many are kept from registration by work, risking loss of votes as Test registrations approach. A petition may seek legislative change to allow power of attorney for those out of city. Illinois may empower district chairmen to register others by affidavit for absentee workers.
Judge James L. Clark of Danville heard proceedings in Lebanon where Mary L Artian seeks an injunction to stop the city from paying Walnut street. The judge reserved verdict on the issues and could delay decision until next term. Also noted is the damage suit of Fred Bechtell against Lebanon Heating Co. directors tried recently at Danville before July 6.
Wilcox Bros purchase a new Avery auto truck built at the Avery plant in Peoria Illinois per their specifications. The two ton by load capacity and ten ton weight, 6 860, features a flexible frame and sixty five horsepower engine making it the largest truck in use in the county.
Last evening the Rev J F Fraser pastor of the Logansport Baptist church delivered a sermon on reflecting Christ and the mind as a mirror. He urged study of sublime things to become Christ like and noted many lack Christ within. A girls’ quartet sang at the close and a service at 7 80 pm will feature Rev W H Abrams of Camden with subject Life’s Great Question.
Health departments in several cities issue decrees urging caution at country picnics. They warn of unsanitary conditions and health risks, offering steps like choosing sunny sites, sitting on cushions, not lying in shade long, keeping food supplies pure, and carrying safe drinking water to avoid illness.
Large and growing list of entrants for the July 4 pushmobile race on the public square. About eleven entries are set, with more expected before Saturday night. Cars include National Marmon Mercedes and home made types, prepared for a four lap course around the square with eight prizes planned.
A surprise party honored Mrs E B Duff at her home marking her seventy third birthday. Her three sons and families arranged plans while she stayed with one son in the country. On return, gifts revealed the celebration, with white and green decorations and a festive menu. The cake was prominently displayed.
Goldie Ethel Wiley aged 21 years 5 months and 11 days died at the family residence south of town after 2 ten weeks illness. She is survived by brother William Everett Wiley and sisters Flossie Irene and Sadie May. She was a member of the Christian church of Lebanon. Funeral at the church Thursday at 2 p m conducted by Rev LE Grown. Interment in Robingon cemetery.
Maliena J Adama s four will has been admitted to probate. The instrument was executed June 24 1904 and witnessed by Henry A Kers and B RateliM It bequeaths 1227-100 Beres from her first husband to her son Jeptha L Leet and the land title shall vest in him in fee simple.
Local businessmen in Frankfort announce a Fourth of July celebration featuring a spares to Si Stena 2 Te 'panket dinner. Details on time and venue are not yet available.
Robert C Barker married Mary J Johnson in Indianapolis at 10 this morning. The couple left for a short wedding trip to Chicago and will be at home after July 1 at 804 Indianapolis avenue. Barker is a conductor on the T H L and E and the bride worked in the Traction Terminal station office.
Miss Katherine Enlow of Lebanon high school class of 1904 entertained former classmates at her South East Street home Monday evening. The gathering featured viewing class photos and records and sharing anecdotes. Refreshments of ice cream and cake were served. Attendees included Mike Mary Cooma, Mrs Myron Adams, formerly Chloe Styers, Mrs George Essex, formerly Miss Isla Bennett, Carl Bratton, Eugene Thornton, Floyd Work, Lore Stegte, and others.

Judge Anderson overruled exceptions to the master in chancery report in the benzoate of soda case. The master’s papers were approved and a decree was entered dismissing the bill for want of equity. The report notes the open question if benzoate of soda is harmless in food even in limited quantities.
