Simmons parents held as grand jury probes poison deaths
In Lebanon this afternoon Chief Edgar Casey and Sheriff Wilbur Small escorted Mr. and Mrs. John W. Simmons of Hancock County to Lebanon for questioning in the poison death of Virginia and Alice Jean Simmons at a family reunion. A drug clerk had sold strychnine to a woman days before the fatal picnic but could not identify Mrs. Simmons. The couple, prominent in Hancock County, face further questioning as authorities seek clues from the Simmons family.
