Roachdale Man Robbed Near Old Union Church
A Roachdale man was assaulted and robbed at about 6:30 am on Jamestown Road near the Old Union Church. He reported being knocked unconscious after stopping to talk to a man in a suspected late 1930s Ford with NC license plate. The assailants took seven to eight dollars from his billfold plus fled. The victim described one assailant as 33 to 40 years old, five feet eleven inches tall with a dark complexion, wearing a light shirt and dark pants. an accomplice struck him from behind. He works on the U.S. Highway 52 bypass.

A pint sized intruder believed Irish broke into Dowager Queen Marys residence in London early today, stabbed her homekeeper and assaulted another woman, then was captured in the basement five hours later. Four Automobiles and Truck Collide at City Limits
Four people were treated and released at Witham hospital after a semitrailer veered across the road at about 11 pm, colliding with multiple cars. William E. Missing Northwest airliner with 38 aboard over Lake Michigan
A Northwest Airliner carrying 38 from New York to Minneapolis vanished during a thunderstorm over Lake Michigan between South Haven Michigan and Milwaukee Wisconsin.
