HarmonHeld For Murder In Hitchhiker Case Near Indianapolis
Lloyd R. Harmon was held for murder in connection with the death of George Hughes, 45, of Indianapolis, who was killed when his car crashed on State Road 62 while a hitchhiker allegedly aimed a revolver at him. Widow Mrs Hughes identified Harmon, who later admitted he was the hitchhiker, saying he met Hughes at Trac tion Terminal and joined him for a ride to Lebanon. Harmon had prior robbery and gun crimes, and was paroled from Lebanon. The investigation included detectives White and Bauer, with repeated identifications by the Hughes family.

Jacob Wanam of 04 Oak Street was injured Friday evening while loading logs onto a wagon. A log hook slipped causing him to fall backward. He suffered a dislocated right shoulder and a broken collar bone and was taken to Williams hospital for X-ray and treatment before returning home that night.

Drunken Driver Sentenced To Farm In Alcohol Case
Albert Sutton a 26 year old Cincinnati truck operator was taken to the state penal farm for thirty days for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence. He was arrested about ten miles north of Lebanon on U S Route 62 by State Policeman B J Richardson. Sutton pleaded guilty at arraignment and was fined 40 dollars and sentenced by Mayor John C Perkins. Richardson said Sutton's truck blocked the highway at the scene.

Pneumonia Threatens Chlorine Gas Victims
IndianapolisJune 24 As pneumonia loomed over forty nine victims of escaping chlorine gas officials opened a sharp probe into gas storage. The Board of Public Safety studied local storage and found no city ordinance governing chlorine gas storage. Tanks are housed in the city for water purification and an ordinance was expected to be drafted.

Mrs Charles Rennie Jr 27 sole survivor of an air plane crash in Lake Michigan recounted an 88 hour battle for life clinging to a torn gasoline tank after three men including her husband James Gillette and mechanic Peter Keller perished.
