City raises salaries for street, park workers and police
The City Council approved roughly a 9 percent across the board hike for non elected city staff including street and park workers and a 5 percent raise for desks, parking meter attendants and others. Fire and police chiefs receive new bases of 6140.16 with 720 longevity. sergeants earn 7429.56 and first class personnel 6728.88. pay for lower ranks 6369.84. Officials rejected family insurance and higher clothing allowances. Mayor Campbell said chiefs were receptive though police personnel voiced contentment while fire department members were less certain.

Voting Age Dropped To 18 Law Signed By Nixon
