Consider Tax Reduction Plan in Washington Meeting
Washington June 23 Major details of the administration tax reduction plan to be submitted to Congress this fall may be decided this week. Chairman Green of Iowa of the House Ways and Means Committee warned against expecting a large tax cut this winter. He noted that a one percent cut in the corporate income tax would reduce the surplus by 100 million dollars and that the current rate stands at 13 percent. Green cited non recurrent revenue and flood control needs, and stressed passage of the second deficiency bill after its filibuster defeat last session. He cautioned the surplus may not support large cuts. The last revenue bill reduced revenue by about 383 million.

Alleged firebug under arrest in Indianapolis churches
Ray Gordon a 50 year old New York City former actor was arrested in Indianapolis for setting three Catholic churches on fire in as many days. Police found a directory of city churches in his pocket with marks beside several names. A crowd of about 1000 gathered outside one church and someone struck him as officers moved him to safety. Authorities say he is a drug user and intent remains unclear.
