Vic Combs was appointed Lebanon High School principal for an eight year term. He has served as assistant principal at LHS for two years and was among three internal finalists. The board approved new hires for special education staff and increased crafts class fees at LMS and LHS. Paris UPI reports Soviet leader Brezhnev and French President Giscard d Estaing pledged support for detente during a three day summit. They warned detente cannot exist alongside interference in internal affairs while agreeing to curb nuclear arms. They urged Geneva talks on the Middle East and called for stronger nonproliferation cooperation and inspections.

Westfield mother dies in two car crash on SR 32
A 36 year old Westfield woman was killed and her three children and sister injured in a two car crash at the Boone Hamilton County Line Road and State Road 32 intersection Tuesday night. The Whitestown driver, Gary L Artman, suffered facial lacerations. Police will decide if the crash occurred in Boone or Hamilton County. Services set for 10 a.m. Friday at McMullan Funeral Home in Westfield.

Immunization law enforced in Boone County schools
Boone County Health Department runs free immunization clinics to meet a February 25 1976 state law requiring school age children to be immunized against six diseases. Children without records or proper signs may be excluded from classes at enrollment.
