Construction Boom In Lebanon Doubles Normal Output

Boone County Building Inspector Floyd Williams says Lebanon’s 2024 construction activity is double the usual level. In six weeks permits total 532 870 dollars in value with new homes ranging 11 400 to 24 500 dollars. Homes in clusters emerge on Clifford Court with ten at 13 000 dollars and one at 14 000 dollars.

Tropical Storm Agnes drenched the Northeast with up to a foot of rain, triggering mass evacuations and a rising death toll. At least 14 killed with nine missing across the Carolinas to New York as Washington and suburbs faced record Potomac floods and widespread power outages. Civil defense urged caution while dams overflowed near Rockville and government workers faced liberal leave as shelters housed over 10,000 people.

Boone Delegation Backs Bowen In Gubernatorial Bid

The Boone County GOP delegation to the Republican State Convention largely backs Dr. Otis Bowen for governor though most expect no first ballot nomination. Only McCormick may back Gutman and Richey may back Hill on first ballots. Delegates include Green, Hardin, McConnaha, Nelson, Obremskey, Northam, Denny, and Mrs. Smith among others.

A residents group won a lengthy delay on a $10 million townhouse and office complex west of Zionsville. Central Indiana counties eye water poll commission

In Greenfield Indiana leaders from eight central counties and Indianapolis discussed forming a regional commission to oversee HUD water pollution grants.
