Lebanon patrons of the Indiana Gas Company receive notice of a budget billing system starting in July to spread heating costs over 11 payments through May. A settlement bill in June adjusts for any over or underpayment, with credits or balances.
U S war planes began bombing Communist supply lines in Cambodia beyond the 1.7 mile limit for ground forces. Pentagon and Abrams said attacks started within the past week as Communists extended beyond sanctuary areas. Air interdiction to continue.
County Auditor Charles Taylor mailed spring settlement checks totaling 2,833,634 to Boone County taxing districts. Schools receive 72 percent of the tax dollars, with the Lebanon Community School District getting 857,393, the largest share, about half of the total draw, distributed in June and December.
The Indiana General Education Study Committee voted 11 to 0 to recommend passage of a proposed bill providing 10 million dollars in state aid to nonpublic schools. The plan would fund secular services at 90 dollars per student per year, with the measure headed to the 1971 Legislature. In Greensburg, relatives of Army Pfc. James Powell said he was killed in Vietnam last week. Powell, 20, was a Greensburg High School graduate who had served there since last February. The Eagle Union CSD will receive its first draw since the merger, with 424,136 dollars, followed by the Western CSD at 652,153 dollars and other district allocations across Boone, Marion Adams, and surrounding areas. Despite late arrival of rates, funds are being distributed six days later than in prior years, with the spring draw typically on June 15.

Boone County highways will receive new numbers under the Uniform System. Charles J. Klooz of Columbus Reproduction & Supply Co. prepares color maps for advertisers. black and white copies go to offices and agencies. Maps show rural schools churches cemeteries and renamed roads including Upper and Lower Simmons Road. Robert McCann in the county auditor’s office handles inquiries to ensure accuracy.
Trial opened in Boone Circuit Court over a million dollar damage suit filed by Indianapolis carpenter William G Hoffman. He claims he was badly burned working on a Decatur County School. Hoffman's lawyer described his client as a former Navy seaman, with prior mental health setbacks. The defense planned contributory negligence evidence. Judge Thompson said the trial may last two weeks.
The Indiana Public Service Commission authorized Hoosier Water Co to raise rates at Sheridan Spencer Winchester and Worthington. It approves a 6.95 percent return on investment but finds Sheridan underperforming with a 4.9 percent return. Sheridan rates will rise to yield 75 948 in operating revenues from 63 316 with a 2.98 minimum charge. A7 grant of 4500 to Sheridan for street reconstruction was approved as part of 47 grants totaling 626 442 in Indiana.
Crescent City Illinois faced a catastrophic derailment of a Toledo Peoria Western train releasing liquid propane. Twelve tank cars exploded destroying the three block business district and 15 homes. About 70 injured nine hospitalized as firemen battled explosions and power outages. Authorities probe possible safety violation and a flaming hotbox sighting near Gilman.

She farms with her husband, assists a consumer panel, sews, cans garden produce, and leads church and 4 H activities. Mrs Robert E Nelson of State Road 2 west holds degrees in education and teaches in Lebanon, enjoys interior decorating, collecting cookbooks, and hosting dinners with her husband.
