The Senate unanimously approved a measure to create an 11,292 acre Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore along the Lake Michigan shore in Porter and LaPorte Counties. Youth Hurt When Striking Auto On Bicycle Monday
An eight year old Lebanon boy, Dayell French of 424 North Meridian Street, ran his bicycle into the side of an auto driven by Harley Earl Darnell of 212 South East Street Lebanon. The collision occurred around 8:45 p.m. on North East Street and the boy suffered a broken leg. He was rushed to Witham Hospital for treatment.

Four year old boy killed in Indiana traffic wreck
A four year old boy, Christopher Stauffer of Markle, died after a car truck collision near Bluffton Monday night. His father Gerald Stauffer, 26, was in fair condition and his sister Tammy, 3, along with driver Jack Daffordn were injured. The incident raised Indiana's 1965 traffic toll to at least 626. Earlier, Joseph Flitter, 42, of LaPorte, was killed in a head on crash with a station wagon driven by his son Ronald, 17, near their family cottage.

Local Fisherman’s Body Recovered From Basswood Lake
