Colonel Ralph T. Nelson, a Lebanon native, has been appointed Commanding Officer of the corps training center at Gordon, Ca. He assumes duties June 27, replacing Brig. Gen. Samuel P. Collins. Nelson has 27 years in the army, born June 19, 1902, and a Lebanon High School graduate. He attended university, West Point, and was commissioned in 192. He served in the European theater in World War II and in the Far East Command from 1953 to 1955. He has earned the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Korean Alpha with Silver Star. He is married to Christine Clarke of Savannah, Ga., with one son and one daughter.
