President Coolidge announced no immediate tax cuts despite a 390 million dollar surplus for the current year. He cited uncertain future government income and urged keeping next year’s expenditures low while forecasting 185 million dollars in revenue over costs for the coming fiscal year.
Lebanon plans a radio entertainment contest to select a city rep for a broadcasting event in Chicago. The Colonial Theatre hosts performances June 29 and July 1 with a trip to Chicago for the winner, plus city honors and exposure on a wide listening audience.

Washington June 22 The Senate primary investigating committee may close its inquiry into the 3,000,000 Pennsylvania Senate race this week. Airman James A. Reed is content to let the record stand though full of controverted matter. Reed says that forged signature of AFL president William Green was admitted in a letter, but the culprit remains undiscovered. Fraud in ballot counting has been charged in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia courts, but no criminal action pursued. W Harry Baker’s memory lapse at a Mellon home conference in March led to his recall.

Local veterans may obtain a bronze souvenir medal at no cost. F F McVey and a few others have applied and received them. Medal bears Philippine Insurrection 1899 on one side and United States Army For Service on the cope. Veterans can request blanks from their Congressman or Senators and send completed forms to the Adjutant General for mint ordering in Philadelphia. No charge is involved.

A protest against appointing six attorneys as advisors to the court in the contempt case of three Indiana Anti-Saloon League officials was filed with the supreme court. The protest argues the case should be decided on its merits by the regularly constituted court. It was filed by James Bingham on behalf of KE. S. Shumaker, league superintendent, and E. A. Miles and Jess Martin, league attorneys accused of contempt.
