Verdict for defense in Indianapolis stockyards case

Reeves suit against Union Stockyards Co Belt Railroad Kingan Co Lt Indiana National Bank Indianapolis Live Stock Journal and others finding for the defendants. The ten day trial rejected the claim that a conspiracy ruined the plaintiffs business or credit and held no recovery for mere organization of a conspiracy. The court reviewed charges on short weight baskets scales disclosure and other alleged acts finding the evidence insufficient to prove wrongdoing or intentional harm. The decision notes no damages were proven and that publishers or newspapers could not be held liable for not publishing prices.

Jamestown Drain Remonstrance Final Report Approved

Court Denies Miller Divorce Finding No Grounds

Thirteen Year Old Boy Arrested for Forgery
David A. Wills aged thirteen, son of John Wills of East Green Street, was arrested by Deputy Sheriff John Casey on forgery charges. He allegedly forged Hugh Bowen’s name on four checks totaling 16, cashed at First National Bank and at Hutchings Grocery McKinney’s, and Fred Coombs Drug Store. He confessed and was arraigned before Judge Attman, who placed him in probationary surveillance and withheld sentence for future good behavior.
