Lebanon Middle School Plans Move Forward Despite Heating Doubt
Lebanon Community School Board approved suspended type plans for the new middle school but questioned electric heat proposals. The architect was asked to restudy heating options after cost concerns from Perry Worth School. The board also approved a 4 percent salary increase for educational service personnel and a 5 cent per hour rise for paraprofessionals and aides.

Lafayette Explosion Injures Two Lilly Workers
An explosion and flash fire at Eli Lilly & Co complex in Lafayette Indiana seriously injured two employees Bobby Greer 35 and Donald Nice 26. Both were hospitalized with severe burns and expected to be moved to Indiana University Medical Center. The blast occurred around 5 am in the antibiotic waste digester, with uncertainty over gas sources.

Indiana Bell announces Linda Dehoney as commercial manager for Lebanon Sheridan and Mechanicsburg effective July 1, succeeding James Covert who moves to Jeffersonville. Dehoney, from Indianapolis, previously trained at Bell corporate HQ and served in multiple commercial roles including acting manager at Martinsville. Covert, active in YMCA United Fund Rotary and other causes, won the 1971 Jaycee Distinguished Service Award.
