Local karate classes to open at Lebanon School of Self-Defense
The Lebanon School of Self-Defense begins karate and judo instruction on June 27 at Walnut and S East Streets. Robert Hill, a second degree black belt, will run the program with his brother David and Herbert Smith. Lessons run Mon Tue Thu Fri evenings and Saturday afternoon with demonstrations planned and membership required to participate. Police records barred from entrants. Call 482 4451 to apply.

Indiana Historymobile to visit Boone County in June
The Indiana Sesquicentennial Historymobile will appear in Boone County at the Lebanon courthouse entrance on Wednesday June 29. Open from midmorning to late evening, the 35 foot blue and white bus showcases eighteen history exhibits from prehistoric Indian culture to present day Indiana. The tour schedule aims to visit counties multiple times, with monthly itineraries publicized by the Sesquicentennial Commission. Jets collide in Hampton killing mother and child
Two Marine A6 intruder jets crashed during a sonic boom near Buckroe Beach Hampton Virginia. A 30 year old mother Mary Gallant and her 19 month old son Donald were killed along with injuries to 41 others. Debris covered four blocks, fires reignited, a gas main ruptured, 13 homes destroyed and 10 damaged. The fuselage of one jet buried 15 feet under the road. one plane fell into Chesapeake Bay. The other aircraft caused no further damage as crews searched for additional victims.

Boone County Commission delays township trustee and health board
Boone County Commissioners failed to name a Harrison Township trustee or complete a five member County Health Board. Auditor McCann expects another meeting within a week before Dinsmore’s June 30 resignation.
