Pearl Sears 79 of Thorntown Route 1 near Mechanicsburg died this morning at Clinton County hospital in Frankfort of complications after an illness of three years. Born September 3, 1877 in Henry County, he was married November 18, 1902 to Ethel Loretta Osburn, who survives. Surviving are a daughter Gladys D. Kelley of Indianapolis and a brother Otto Sears of Jasper. He was known for race horses in County Fair circuits. Last rites Saturday at 2 p.m. at Goodwin funeral home Frankfort, with Rev Arthur Harmon of Lafayette, officiating. burial in Green Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call.

Lebanon will host a Fourth of July celebration at Memorial Park with an evening fireworks display though the traditional parade is likely cancelled due to last month’s flood.
