Canterbury College will open an extension center in Lebanon starting fall term September 13. The Rev Douglas K.R. MacLaurey said a lease will secure the Lawler building for classrooms and labs, with plans for enrollment growth and adult education courses. Local support includes a $17,000 subscription and ongoing pledges to cover about $25,000 for the first three years.

Municipal Judge Alex Clark appointed Sam Blume as Shelton's pauper attorney after he waived a preliminary hearing. Shelton was silent except for a few whispers with his wife Dorothy who said they moved from Illinois to Indianapolis recently. Sheriff’s investigator Elmer Iaves said Shelton admitted picking up the girl but denied attacking her.

Construction of a new Pilgrim Holiness church at the corner of South Lebanon and Ash streets is underway in Bedford stone. The basement 40 by 70 feet will house an auditorium four classrooms a heating plant and rest rooms and should be finished this summer. Rev. E O Howell says services may be held in the basement after completion and the fully finished church will include an auditorium balcony and upstairs classrooms with more basement rooms possible.
