Prominent Boone County farmer Copeland dies at 87
Moses Copeland of Boone county, longtime farmer, died Sunday at 8 30 after a two year illness. Born June 10 1822 in Jefferson county he moved to Boone in 1861, expanding his 80 acre farm to 250 acres. He was a Baptist church member and Masonic lodge deacon. Funeral Tuesday at Center Church conducted by C A Cook. Survivors include son GL W Copeland and brother S W Copeland of Madison Indiana.

Quarrel Over a Nickel Ends in Shooting Near Broad Ripple
Indianapolis report: Frank McCord, 24, of 3349 North Capitol avenue, was shot and seriously wounded by Charles Starkey, a farm hand employed by William Haverstick, two miles north of Broad Ripple. Starkey demanded 5 cents for shelter in the Haverstick grove. McCord refused, and McCord says Starkey fired one shot.
